New brand for a reinvented craft beer pub.
Stone Well Tap
Project
The Hand Pulled Beer Company acquired the Stonewell in 2017 and invested in a significant refurbishment of this historic listed building.
After meeting to discuss the project we opted for a refreshed name to better communicate the craft ale proposition - Stone Well Tap - and a new more contemporary brand identity.
Objectives
To appeal to a younger audience willing to pay a premium for specialist craft beers in a setting that would not look out of place in Manchester’s Northern Quarter or London’s Shoreditch.
A secondary objective was to allude to Stone Well Tap’s place in Lancaster’s rich history. It is built on the site of a historic water well, as featured in John Speed’s iconic map of Lancashire from 1610.
This helped inform the rationale for the hand pump icon, presented in a contemporary style appropriate for a modern craft ale pub.
Deliverables
- Naming strategy
- Brand identity
- Signage design
- Menu template design
